I try to photograph my paintings realistically and match the color and light as closely as possible so that when someone sees something that they like on the Web site, or on Facebook, they are looking at the closest approximation to the real thing they can get. My work is not textural, so that’s helpful.

And of course a buyer is hesitant to buy without actually seeing the piece in person. So, when someone from another state recently asked about pricing on one of my paintings and I responded with a price and they hesitated… I understood the hesitation. I asked if they had some idea where they were going to display the piece in their home, and if they did – to forward a picture. She knew exactly where she wanted to place the piece, and sent me a picture of the room. I PhotoShopped the piece into the room to help them visualize the purchase (my rendition is the first picture posted). This helped my client, and friend, make a decision on buying the art. She also forwarded me a picture of the frame she was planning to put it in, because she had purchased the frame 2 years before, and had been looking all this time for something to put into it!

When Sheba received the piece, she was very pleased with the painting and kindly forwarded a picture of the piece framed and displayed in her home, and I was happy to see that my original “visualization” of the artwork in her home closely matched the actual installation of the artwork – particularly in size. The pictures were shot at different times of day, and admittedly, my depiction highlighted the painting more (after all, that’s what I was trying to sell), but she did get a feel for the work in the room prior to receiving it.

So even if you are NOT from out of town, and would like to see how a piece might work in your home… do send me a photo.

On a side note: I was pleased to see that the painting would be situated very close to a window in the home, because lighting is everything to how well an artwork displays – and my paintings are all painted in bright natural lighting.
